Article 1

Name, registered office and duration

The non-profit association adopts the name APPJuventude – Associação Portuguesa de Profissionais de Juventude. Its registered office is at Rua Cônsul Aristides Sousa Mendes – Pousada de Juventude de Viseu, no street number, Viseu, in the parish and municipality of Viseu. It is established for an indefinite period.

The association’s legal entity number is 514 719 753 and its Social Security identification number is 251 471 97 538.

Article 2

Purposes

The association’s purposes are to:

• Strengthen and uphold the standing of youth workers in Portugal and promote their recognition by the Portuguese Republic and organisations representing young people;
• Propose legislation and actions that help regulate the youth sector and promote the public standing of youth workers;
• Promote non-formal education and social innovation processes that support young people’s active participation in sustaining a democratic society;
• Support the development of educational methods and tools among youth workers through cooperation and networking.

Article 3

Income

The association’s income includes:

• The initial joining fee paid by members;
• Membership fees set by the General Assembly;
• Income from the association’s assets and activities;
• Donations and gifts accepted by the association;
• Grants awarded to the association.

Article 4

Governing bodies

The association’s governing bodies are the General Assembly, the Executive Board and the Supervisory Board.

The term of office of members of the governing bodies is four years.

Article 5

General Assembly

The General Assembly consists of all members in full enjoyment of their rights.

Its powers and operating procedures are those set out in the Portuguese Civil Code, particularly Article 170 and Articles 172 to 179.

The General Assembly Bureau consists of three members: one Chair and two Secretaries. They chair Assembly meetings and prepare the minutes.

Article 6

Executive Board

The Executive Board is elected by the General Assembly and consists of five members.

It is responsible for managing the association’s activities, administration and finances and for representing the association in and out of court.

Its operating procedures are set out in Article 171 of the Portuguese Civil Code.

The association is bound by the joint action of two Executive Board members.

Article 7

Supervisory Board

The Supervisory Board is elected by the General Assembly and consists of three members.

It scrutinises the Executive Board’s administrative and financial acts, examines its accounts and reports, and issues opinions on acts that would increase expenditure or reduce income.

Its operating procedures are set out in Article 171 of the Portuguese Civil Code.

Article 8

Admission and exclusion

The conditions for admitting and excluding members, their categories, rights and obligations shall be set out in regulations approved by the General Assembly.

Article 9

Dissolution and allocation of assets

If the association is dissolved, members shall decide on the allocation of assets forming part of its property that are not assigned to a specific purpose and were not donated or bequeathed subject to a condition.
