Privacy and personal data
APPJuventude respects your privacy and is committed to lawful, fair, transparent and secure processing of personal data, limited to the purposes necessary for its association, training, institutional and project activities.
This is an English reference translation of the Portuguese policy last updated in June 2026. It does not introduce new processing purposes or change your choices.

This Privacy Policy explains how APPJuventude collects, uses, retains, protects and, where applicable, shares personal data in the course of its activities. These include the website, forms, event registration, training, projects, applications, institutional communication, professional contacts, membership administration, partnerships, newsletters and participation in national or international initiatives.
It applies to everyone who interacts with APPJuventude, including members, participants, learners, young people, youth workers, representatives of public and private bodies, partners, suppliers, volunteers, website visitors and other institutional contacts.
APPJuventude processes personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Portuguese Law no. 58/2019 of 8 August, and other applicable national and European legislation on data protection, privacy and electronic communications.

APPJuventude collects only data that are adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary for each purpose. Depending on your relationship with the association, these may include:
Sensitive or special-category data. APPJuventude avoids collecting sensitive data unless needed for accessibility, inclusion, safety, legal obligations or appropriate participation. Wherever possible, collection is minimised and clear information is provided to the data subject.

Personal data are processed for specified, explicit and legitimate purposes. The main purposes and legal bases are:
Joining, membership records, dues, notices of meetings, participation in governing bodies, internal communication and data updates.
Legal basis: Performance of the membership agreement, legal obligations and the association’s legitimate interests.
Registration, attendance confirmation, certificates, participant lists, logistical contact, attendance records, evaluations and reports.
Legal basis: Performance of the registration or agreement, legitimate interests, consent where applicable, and legal or contractual obligations.
Participant management, evidence of delivery, reporting, evaluation, dissemination, funding-programme requirements and communication with partners.
Legal basis: Performance of a contract, legal or contractual obligations, legitimate interests and consent where necessary.
Responding to enquiries and maintaining contact with municipalities, associations, public bodies, partners, youth workers and national and international networks.
Legal basis: Legitimate interests, pre-contractual steps, performance of a contract or consent, depending on the circumstances.
News, invitations, opportunities, training, events, projects and information relevant to the youth sector.
Legal basis: Consent, or legitimate interests where there is a prior relationship and the communication is appropriate and expected, with the right to object always available.
Urgent or relevant logistical information about events, programme changes, accreditation, reminders and participation support.
Legal basis: Performance of the registration, legitimate interests or consent, depending on the context.
Recording, archiving, communication and public dissemination of APPJuventude events, projects, training and activities.
Legal basis: Consent, legitimate interests or a contractual or institutional basis, according to the nature of the recording and its use.
Invoicing, receipts, accounting, audits, public funding and reporting to funders or competent authorities.
Legal basis: Legal obligations and performance of a contract.
Spam prevention, protection against unauthorised access, form administration, security logs and website operation.
Legal basis: Legitimate interests and security obligations.
Technical website operation, access statistics, content improvement and user experience.
Legal basis: Legitimate interests for strictly necessary cookies and consent for non-essential cookies, where applicable.

APPJuventude may send institutional communications, event invitations, training opportunities, project information, news and content concerning youth, youth work, participation, public policy, associations, capacity building and national or European programmes.
Where communication relies on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time. Where it relies on legitimate interests, you may object to processing, including further communications, using the contacts in this policy or the unsubscribe mechanisms provided.

Photographs, video, voice recordings or testimonials may be collected at events, training, meetings, seminars, forums, projects and other initiatives organised or co-organised by APPJuventude for records, archives, institutional communication, publicity, project reports and dissemination of results.
Wherever possible, participants are informed in advance about image or audio recording. For individualised, promotional or unexpected uses, specific consent will be requested or another appropriate legal basis adopted. Anyone who does not wish to be photographed or filmed in an identifiable way should inform the organisers, where possible before or at the start of the activity.

APPJuventude may undertake activities involving young people under 18, including projects, participation activities, training, consultations, events and educational initiatives with schools, municipalities, associations or other partners.
When processing children’s personal data, APPJuventude adopts measures appropriate to their age, the context and the risks, seeking to provide clear information, accessible language, data minimisation and, when necessary, authorisation or consent from legal representatives.
For information society services based on consent, where a child is under 13, consent must be provided by their legal representatives in accordance with applicable Portuguese law.

APPJuventude does not sell personal data. Data may be shared where necessary, proportionate and legally permitted, including with:
When using processors, APPJuventude seeks to ensure they process data only on its instructions and with appropriate confidentiality, security and data protection safeguards.

APPJuventude’s activities may involve international projects and partnerships, including European cooperation. Data are generally processed within the European Economic Area. Where platforms, partners or providers outside that area are needed, APPJuventude will seek to ensure appropriate safeguards, such as adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, supplementary measures or another legal basis provided by the GDPR.

Personal data are kept only as long as necessary for the purposes for which they were collected, without prejudice to legal, tax, accounting, contractual, membership, audit, archival or legal-claims requirements.

Subject to applicable law and its limitations, data subjects may exercise the following rights:

APPJuventude adopts appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, disclosure or unauthorised access. Where appropriate, these include access controls, permission management, platforms with security mechanisms, backups, confidentiality, data minimisation and awareness among those involved in processing.
No technological system is entirely free of risk. If a security incident may pose a risk to people’s rights and freedoms, APPJuventude will take the measures required by applicable law, including notifying the supervisory authority and/or affected individuals where legally necessary.

The website may use cookies and similar technologies for technical operation, browsing experience, usage statistics, form protection, external content and digital communication.
Strictly necessary cookies may be used without prior consent because they are essential to provide the requested service. Non-essential cookies, including analytics, marketing, social media or third-party cookies, should only be used where valid consent exists, where applicable.
Users may configure or withdraw consent for non-essential cookies through the mechanism provided on the website, where available, or through browser settings. Disabling some cookies may affect the browsing experience or functionality.
